Puppies Won’t Wait

Dog training has changed a lot over the last decade or so, including how we approach our socialization strategy with young pups. But it hasn’t changed the fact that this stage of development ends early. The goal to create positive associations with a variety of people, places, surfaces, and sounds before they are 16 weeks remains the same. Ultimate Puppy is here to help with socialization resources.

How We Can Help

From the ‘What’ and ‘Why’ to the ‘How’ we provide you with information and tools to stay on track with your socialization strategy. Here is a list of resources to help you navigate puppy socialization.

  1. Read – The Socialization Section at ultimatepuppy.com
  2. Read – This Blog on Creative Socialization
  3. Watch – Socialization Deconstructed
  4. Print – The Social Schedule

Silver Linings

Safe and effective socialization is doable. Yes, it will require some creativity and flexibility on your part, but you’ve got this!

When it comes to people and other dogs you may not be coming into close contact. You will simply feed your puppy at a distance as he perceives.

The upside of this is that your puppy will learn to look at you around other dogs and people versus pulling towards them. A whole generation of pups who aren’t accidentally getting reinforced for jumping up on strangers!

Online Classes

In addition to these resources be sure and check out trainers who are offering live online puppy classes in your area. Online coaching works! These classes are fun and effective. Early education for you and your pup is the way to go.

If you have just brought a new puppy home or are about to, do not miss our On-Demand webinar You’re Lucky You’re Cute. This webinar includes an eBook full of how-to videos, a bathroom training plan, supply lists, and more. Both are yours to keep and use as you raise your ultimate puppy!

Stay Safe and Happy Puppy Raising.
